In the first half of this year, Guangdong's foreign trade, both imports and exports, reached record highs for the same period. Guangdong's import and export of goods reached 4.55 trillion yuan in the first half of the year, a year-on-year increase of 4%, 1.1 percentage points higher than the national average. Exports totaled 2.89 trillion yuan, up 1.1%, while imports reached 1.66 trillion yuan, up 9.5%.

Recently, Guangzhou Customs released comprehensive import and export statistics for the seven cities under the Guangzhou Customs District from January to June 2025. The data related to agricultural machinery is as follows:

Imports:

In June, the number of agricultural machinery imported was 3,223 units, a year-on-year decrease of 6.44%, with a value of 30.37893 million yuan, a year-on-year increase of 14.72%. The cumulative number of imported units from January to June was 48,364, a year-on-year increase of 92.19%, and the cumulative value of imported units was 31.511386 million yuan, a year-on-year increase of 66.44%.

For harvesting machinery, the cumulative number of imported units from January to June was 9, with a cumulative value of 47.2291 million yuan, a year-on-year increase of 14.94%.

Export Status:

In June, agricultural machinery exports totaled 79,611 units (sets), a year-on-year increase of 152.52%; the export value reached 61.979227 million yuan, a year-on-year increase of 90.50%. From January to June, the cumulative export volume reached 583,074 units (sets), a year-on-year increase of 80.38%, and the cumulative export value reached 551.659717 million yuan, a year-on-year increase of 41.73%.

Tractor exports: In June, the number of tractors exported was 29, a year-on-year increase of 52.63%, and the export value reached 7.6838 million yuan, a year-on-year increase of 663.52%. From January to June, the cumulative export volume was 446, a year-on-year increase of 1684%, and the cumulative export value reached 81.38656 million yuan, a year-on-year increase of 1657.29%.

In the first half of 2025, Guangdong Province's major agricultural machinery export markets were: ASEAN (accounting for 35% of total exports), Africa (20%), and Latin America (15%). Imports from Vietnam, Indonesia, Nigeria, and other countries saw a year-on-year increase of 10%-15%. In the second half of 2025, Guangdong Province's agricultural machinery exports are expected to maintain a growth rate of 5%-8%, and the annual export volume may exceed US$5 billion. However, we need to be vigilant against trade frictions and supply chain uncertainties, and it is recommended to transform towards high value-added and service-oriented directions.
