China's First Comprehensive Agricultural Planting Model Released

At this critical stage in the accelerated transition of traditional agriculture toward intelligent farming, AI "super brains" are entering the fields. On July 28th, Sinochem released the industry's first large-scale agricultural planting model, "iMAP." As a "new agricultural tool" in the digital age, iMAP features a new intelligent algorithm architecture that is explainable, traceable, and mechanism-driven. It integrates crop mechanisms, large-scale models, and intelligent agents, promoting the full-cycle digitalization of agricultural services from soil to harvest. This addresses the challenge of agricultural production's "reliance on experience" and injects new digital momentum into the development of new agricultural productivity.

Li Fanrong, Chairman and Secretary of the Party Committee of Sinochem, Jiao Jian, General Manager and Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, Gui Gang, Deputy Director of the Planning and Development Bureau of the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council, and Chen Huaida, Deputy General Manager and Member of the Party Committee of China Mobile, attended the launch event and delivered speeches. Zhang Fang, Deputy General Manager, Member of the Party Committee, and Chief Technology Officer of Sinochem, presided over the launch. Representatives from relevant ministries and commissions, including the National Bureau of Statistics, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology, the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, the National Engineering Research Center for Agricultural Informatization, and Harbin Institute of Technology, as well as industry partners, attended the event to witness this important announcement.

Since 2023, the "Year of Big Models," the application of AI technology in agriculture has accelerated, with emerging capabilities such as agricultural knowledge Q&A, pest and disease warnings, and monitoring and early warning.

However, in terms of practical applications, the agricultural AI application industry is still in its infancy. The reasons behind this are: first, the fragmentation of agricultural data makes model development difficult; second, the wide variety of growing conditions means that models that fail to adapt to the specific needs of different regions and crops are prone to acclimatization.

To address these pain points, Sinochem, leveraging its subsidiary Syngenta Group China, has built and operated hundreds of MAP technical service centers across 26 provinces nationwide, providing offline services covering over 40 million mu (approximately 166 acres), and leveraging its unique advantages and robust data support. This has integrated over 10 million agricultural knowledge resources, encompassing six key agricultural themes, including basic knowledge, environmental resources, and production and planting data, as well as over 10 types of multimodal, high-quality agricultural datasets. This has led to the development of a new, interpretable, traceable, and mechanism-driven intelligent algorithm architecture, integrating crop mechanisms, large-scale models, and intelligent agents. This has resulted in the launch of "iMAP," a large-scale agricultural planting model.

iMAP offers four core advantages:

Technological Innovation: The first AI system to integrate "crop mechanisms, large-scale models, and intelligent agents."

Data Integrity: A comprehensive, authentic, and high-quality agricultural data ecosystem spanning the entire agricultural industry chain.

Industrial Transformation: Promoting the transition from "experience-based planting" to "industrial-grade standard production."

Practical Application: Designed to meet farmers' needs, with a low barrier to entry.

This AI model, which understands agriculture better and serves farmers better, has also been selected as a strategic high-value scenario application case for central enterprises.
