Chinese tomatoes exported to Russia were intercepted again, and 2.3 tons of goods were detected with high-risk viruses. This is the 15th batch of Chinese tomatoes intercepted due to the virus in 2025.

On June 24, according to the Primorsky Territory local branch of the Russian Federal Veterinary and Phytosanitary Supervision Service: During the process of implementing plant quarantine and laboratory testing on samples of about 281 kilograms of peppers and 2.3 tons of tomatoes imported from China, officials of the branch detected quarantine pests in the samples: Tomato Brown Wrinkled Fruit Virus (ToBRFV). According to the decision of the Primorsky Territory local branch on June 20, the import of this batch of infected products is prohibited. The above-mentioned infected products will be destroyed later.

This is the 15th batch of Chinese tomatoes intercepted by Russia for carrying the virus since 2025. Together with the peppers checked during the same period, Chinese Solanaceae crops exported to Russia are facing a severe quarantine crisis. The intensive returns and destructions not only cause direct economic losses, but also threaten the long-term credibility of China's agricultural product exports to Russia.
